Jazz and Improvisation for Classical Pianists & Singers
Dr. Mark ClarDominic Alldis has been on the teaching staff of the Royal Academy of Music since 1991. He currently teaches jazz and improvisation to first-study classical pianists.
He also taught musicianship at the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music from 1993-2001, as well as conducting and composition at the American School of Modern Music in Paris from 1991-93.
Dominic has also taught jazz singing to first-study classical singers. In 2006 this culminated in a two-day "Jazz Singing Masterclass" at the Royal Academy of Music. The event was the subject of a feature in The Singer magazine and featured many renowned tutors and vocalists from London's vibrant jazz scene.
He has also written two highly successful books: "A Classical Approach to Jazz Piano Harmony" and "A Classical Approach to Jazz Piano Improvisation", both published worldwide by the Hal Leonard Corporation.
In 2000 he was made an Honorary Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
Dominic currently offers online classes in jazz piano harmony and improvisation to advanced pianists.
